The semi-final was extended from 9th to 10th July which was the reserve day for the match.
The Kiwi pace attack then ripped through the Indian line-up and birthed the dreaded famous 5/3 scoreline. Despite efforts from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, India lost the match by 18 runs. It was one of the most heartbreaking losses for the team and their fans. New Zealand however went on to lose the final to England in a thrilling tied super-over match.

Team India’s resurgence begins against Australia

India’s ICC trophy resurgence begins against Australia on 8th October 2023 later this year in the ODI World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led team will also get a chance to avenge this defeat when India takes on New Zealand on 22 October in Dharamsala.
India are set to play arch-rivals Pakistan on 15th October at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The hosts, under Rohit Sharma, will be looking to recreate the scenes from the 2011 World Cup when MS Dhoni led India to their second title. A lot will depend on the two experienced campaigners- Rohit and Virat Kohli. The young blood- Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj will also be key for India at this year’s World Cup.
