Even if Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma’s poor form continued in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders too, this time, it wasn’t his fault that he had to walk back to the dressing room.

On Monday, May 9 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, fans started questioning over Ultra edge technology because they were not happy with the umpires.

After Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul, MI were able to restrict KKR for 165/9. Rohit had opened the innings alongside Ihsan Kishan and scored 2 runs in 6 balls.

On the last ball of the first over itself, Tim Southee managed to outsmart Rohit. Sheldon Jackson, the wicket-keeper was convinced that there was as edge and asked captain Shreyas Iyer to take review.

In the replays, it was clear that the spikes were caught before the ball touched that bat but still the third umpire declared him as out.

What Rohit Sharma said after losing the match to KKR?

“I would take that total on that pitch. Was a great effort from the bowling unit, Bumrah was special. Disappointed the way we batted. Poor from the batters. Not really (difficulty of batting on this pitch). We are playing our fourth game here and we know what to expect here. We know seam bowlers will get some help from the pitch. We didn’t get partnerships and you need partnerships chasing a total like that,” said Rohit Sharma during the post-match presentation.

“I don’t think so (if MI could have restricted KKR to a lower total). Looking at the way they batted in the first 10 overs, they were 100 runs in 10 or 11 overs. But the way we came back was brilliant. Great effort from Bumrah and the entire bowling unit. Batters let us down. It’s been that kind of a season where both departments weren’t consistent enough. It is something that we wanted to improve today but couldn’t do it,” he added.
