The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) raised concerns regarding the scheduling of Pakistan’s match against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The two teams will meet on November 2, which is coinciding with Kali Puja.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the schedule at a ceremony on June 27. But unfortunately, they are now revising it due to the Indian festivals.

Kolkata Police has cited concerns to provide security for the match slated on Diwali. We have been informed by the ICC and BCCI to reschedule it and if does not happen we would inform the chief minister,” a senior CAB official said (via NDTV). He was part of the 17-member ICC and BCCI inspection team meeting.

In Kolkata, during Kali Puja, which is also the second biggest festival in West Bengal, the police already find it difficult to manage law and order. The match can create a lot of commotion.

If the date changes, then Pakistan will have its schedule change for the third time. At first, their match against India got shifted to October 14 from October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

October 15 is the first day of the festival of Navaratri. Ahmedabad police informed the BCCI about how it would be too difficult for them to manage the security if the match takes place on October 15.

The match between Babar Azam and Co. and Sri Lanka has been changed to October 10. It was first scheduled for October 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The BCCI and ICC have been criticized heavily for not taking care of such matters beforehand and only changing the schedules after security forces informed them about the same.
