Pakistan will only come to India for World Cup of BCCI gives THIS “written guarantee”
Najam Sethi is expected to make it clear to the ACC to accept the hybrid model or else Pakistan won't participate in the tournament if is moved out of the country.
Najam Sethi, Jay Shah
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will seek a “written guarantee” from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chairman Jay Shah about India’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy which is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. They are doing this to confirm their participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup which will take place in India this year.
According to a report by PTI, as the BCCI secretary Jay Shah has refused PCB’s ‘Hybrid Model’ for the upcoming Asia Cup, PCB chairman Najam Sethi has to come to this ultimatum.
As per reliable sources, Sethi will leave for Dubai on May 8th for meeting with ACC and International Cricket Council (ICC) officials. Sethi would want the support of Pakistan’s “principled stance that it will not play its World Cup matches in India unless the BCCI and ICC give written guarantees that India will come to Pakistan to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.”
The source also revealed that Najam Sethi recently met some government officials to hear from them whether Pakistani players should play in Asia Cup if it is not held in Lahore and Dubai as proposed by PCB under the hybrid model plan.
Najam Sethi has to come up with hard decisions
The source revealed that Najam Sethi was left with no choice but to take a hard decision over the conflicting matter. He is expected to make it clear to the ACC to accept the hybrid model or else Pakistan won’t participate in the tournament if is moved out of the country.
He has taken this blunt stance as he doesn’t want more delays in the finalization of venues and schedules for the Asia Cup. “Sethi is clear now no Asia Cup matches in Pakistan, no Pakistan team in Asia Cup,” the source added.
