On Pakistan’s Independence day, PCB released a short video celebrating the history of Pakistan’s cricket team. The video included all of their greatest achievements, but missed a very important part of their history.

The original video ignores 1992 World Cup winning captain, Imran Khan. Regarded as one of the best all rounders in world cricket and a very important part of Pakistan’s journey in becoming a world class team, Imran Khan didn’t feature in the video.

Fans and ex-players were unhappy with the way PCB handled this video. Many think they avoided Imran Khan due to him being arrested for corruption charges. Wasim Akram posted on X on how shocked he was with this decision and asked the PCB to delete the video and apologise to Imran Khan. Shahid Afridi reposted that video. He said the video is a good promotional campaign for the upcoming World Cup, but Imran’s services to the sport shouldn’t have been impacted due to politics.

PCB say they cut out Imran Khan due ‘length’ of the video, released a new version with him in it

The PCB just re-released the same video on all of social media accounts, but included clips of Imran celebrating the 1992 World Cup with teammates and him holding the World Cup trophy. They also finally mentioned Imran Khan. The thumbnail of the video also includes Imran Khan.

Currently Imran Khan is facing plenty of legal issues since getting removed from his post of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He held the position from 2018 to 2022. He is the first Prime Minister in Pakistan to be removed through a no-confidence motion.

Imran Khan is currently jailed with a sentence of years for corruption. He was arrested in May 2023 on the same charges as well. He is the founder and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), a political party which he created in 1996. It is one of the biggest political parties in Pakistan.
