Physical fight in Pakistan dressing room? PCB quashes rumors of internal discord in team
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement quashing such rumors and criticized the journalists for spreading fake news.

The 2023 ICC ODI World Cup is currently underway and rumors are spreading of an altercation within the Pakistani team. Several Pakistani journalists have reported on social media that the atmosphere has not been peaceful and that the players got into a physical fight.
These journalists also claimed that captain Babar Azam had to face isolation due to the tense atmosphere. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement quashing such rumors and criticized the journalists for spreading fake news.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board strongly denies recent speculations about any internal discord in the national cricket team currently participating in the ICC World Cup 2023,” PCB wrote in a statement. The PCB post further emphasized the importance of upholding journalistic ethics before spreading the news that is not true.

Pakistan started their World Cup campaign with a win over the Netherlands. They defeated Sri Lanka before facing a disappointing loss to India and Australia. Before the World Cup, there were reports of a rift between Babar and Shaheen Afridi.
Imad Wasim says Babar Azam has not won a big match for Pakistan since 2019
Veteran all-rounder Imad Wasim criticized Babar Azam after Pakistan’s defeat against Australia. Wasim, on ARY News, said the Pakistan skipper has not won a big match for the Men in Blue since playing a big match in the 2019 ODI World Cup against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand.

Wasim further said that being a number one batter in ODIs, Babar has to take responsibility and bat in accordance with the team’s. Notably, Babar is yet to play a stellar knock in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well. He has scored five, 10, 50, 18, and 74. The two half-centuries came against India and Afghanistan.
