During the Boxing Day Test match, the Test between Pakistan and Australia looked like a close affair. Needing over 100 runs to win the Test with 5 wickets in hand, it looked like with a little fight Pakistan could win their first Test in the nation since 1995.

On strike were Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman, who looked comfortable in the middle. In the 61st over, captain Pat Cummins finally managed to break the partnership after dismissing Rizwan.

The ball had hit Rizwan on his glove’s wristband and carried to the keeper. When Australia had appealed, the umpire had not given it, but after snicko and hot spot proved the ball hit the wristband, he was sent to the dressing room. After this a collapse ensued, that won Australia the match.

After the match, many people criticized the dismissal, with Mohammed Hafeez claiming technology brings confusion to the sport. Now the PCB will be going to the ICC, with Hafeez claiming the poor officiating and DRS led them to losing the match.

Kamran Akmal claims Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan don’t need rests

When Pakistan announced the squad for their tour of New Zealand, which included 5 T20Is, many people noticed the return of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Many people expected them to rest for the series, as they had played months of non-stop cricket for months.

Kamral Akmal, the consultant to National Selector Wahab Riaz, claimed the duo were senior players who needed to play. He claimed there was no chance of them ever being dropped, reminding everyone that they were playing against New Zealand.

No one from the team management or selection committee talked about giving rest to Babar and Rizwan during the New Zealand series. Pakistan is going to New Zealand, not Nepal, where senior players can be rested. No one can think like that.
Akmal said told a local TV channel

After playing the final Test against Australia on 3rd January, they will travel to New Zealand. The T20I series begins on 12th January, a few days after the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
