“Playing video game in real life,” fans left rubbing their eyes as Yashaswi Jaiswal scores fastest fifty in IPL history

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opening batter Yashaswi Jaiswal is in some serious form in the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-handed batter is not letting go of any chance he is being presented. The Southpaw has already scored over 450 runs in IPL 2023 with a few games remaining. While Jaiswal has already scored a century (against Mumbai Indians), his best batting performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday as he hit the fastest fifty in IPL history.

Jaiswal unfurled his attacking self from the ball go as the RR opener hit KKR captain Nitish Rana for a maximum on the very first ball he faced. The batter continued the assault on Rana scoring a six and three boundaries in the first over. While it seemed he might stop after this, Jaiswal thought otherwise. He continued to toy with KKR bowlers and reached his half-century in just 13 balls.

Jaiswal pipped KL Rahul (14 balls against Delhi Capitals in 2018) to become the batter with the quickest fifty to his name. With the 21-year-old showing no mercy on the bowlers, fans were left awestruck by Jaiswal’s hitting abilities.

Not only fans but Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were also impressed by this batting masterclass from Yashaswi Jaiswal. While Kohli put a story on Instagram for Jaiswal, Rahul shared a GIF wherein the character doffs his hat.

Jaiswal looked unstoppable as he went on to score 98* off just 47 balls and win the game for his team. The opening batter hit thirteen boundaries and five sixes in his inning. Jaiswal pulled cum swept Shardul Thakur towards deep midwicket for a boundary to finish the game for RR. He then backed it with a lovely celebration wherein he took off his helmet and took a bow before the crowd.
