Priyam Garg replaces Kamlesh Nagarkoti in Delhi Capitals squad for IPL 2023
As Nagarkoti was ruled out of the tournament with a lower back stress fracture, DC roped in Garg as the pacer’s replacement.
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Priyam Garg as Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s replacement for the remained of IPL 2023. As Nagarkoti was ruled out of the tournament with a lower back stress fracture, DC roped in Garg as the pacer’s replacement. The former India U19 captain was roped in for his base price of 20 lakhs. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the news on Sunday.
“Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti is ruled out of the remainder of TATA IPL 2023 after sustaining a lower back stress fracture. Uttar Pradesh batter Priyam Garg has been named as Nagarkoti’s replacement and DC have signed him for his base price of INR 20 lakh. The attacking batter was first picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2020 and featured in 21 IPL games for SRH across three seasons,” said BCCI in its release.
Notably, Garg has scored 251 runs in the 21 matches he has played in IPL so far. The middle-order batter is known for his batting prowess and for the ability to strike clean at will. Garg has scored one half-century so far in the tournament which came in his first IPL season.

Axar Patel and Delhi Capitals ready to take down SRH
Although DC have signed Garg, it is to be seen if the batter gets a chance with plenty of middle-order batters already waiting in the wings. Nevertheless, DC will take on Sunrirsers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next league game of IPL 2023. After five consecutive defeats, the David Warner-led team finally opened their account, beating KKR in a low-scoring game.
Now, with SRH to face next, DC vice-captain Axar Patel is hoping for a good game as the mood is positive in the camp after the win over KKR. “A win certainly changes the environment in the team. A few doubts creep in when you’re not able to cross the line. Our win in the last match will help us build confidence. We will try to keep winning games,” said Patel ahead of the SRH clash.
