WATCH: PSL team Lahore Qalandars gift brand new car to Shaheen Afridi as a token of appreciation

Shaheen Afridi has been one of the biggest assets of the Pakistan team for a while now. His excellent performances in all formats of the game crowned him ICC Cricketer of the year 2021, making him the first Pakistani cricketer to receive the honour.

He was also one of the reasons behind India’s famous defeat against Pakistan in the last year’s ICC T20 World Cup and helped his team reach the semi-finals of the tournament. He is performing for the national team as well as for his Pakistan Super League franchise Lahore Qalandars. He led the Lahore Qalandars earlier this year and the team emerged out victorious for the first time.

Afridi’s magnificent efforts made his franchise gift him a brand new Toyota SUV. The gift was presented by Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana on 13th June in an event to reward the young captain. Lahore Qalandars shared a post today to appreciate Afridi’s efforts with the caption:

“A token of appreciation to OUR CAPTAIN QALANDAR @iShaheenAfridi. Thank you for being such a good example of how talent combined with great efforts pays off. Keep up the great work!!” the franchise posted in Twitter along with a video montage of Afridi leading the team to the PSL title and then receiving his gift.”

“Shaheen started his career with us, and we believed in him and decided to give him the captaincy of Lahore Qalandars because deep down we knew about Shaheen’s passion and believed in him that he can lead the team very well, and everyone saw the results of it, so we thank him for his performance,” Rana said at the event.

Shaheen Afridi was recently part of the Pakistan side that claimed victory by 3-0 at home in an ODI series. Whereas against Australia, Pakistan got narrowly lost in Tests but won the ODI series.
