Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul
As Lucknow Supergiants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 runs, the pair of LSG opener Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul broke several records. This match was played on Wednesday, May 18 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
De Kock was in a fiery mood as he smashed an unbeaten 140 off just 70 balls. He had hit 10 fours and 10 sixes to reach this high score. KL Rahul on the other hand supported de Kock and played 51-ball 68. Both the batsmen stayed at the crease without getting dismissed for the first wicket and with this, they have created a lot of records.
De Kock’s unbeaten 140 is the third highest individual score in IPL. Chris Gayle is the first one on the list with an unbeaten 175 runs against Pune Warriors India in 2013. Gayle is followed by Brendon McCullum’s 158* against RCB in the inaugural season of IPL in 2008.
With an unbeaten 210-stand between Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul went past Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Jonny Bairstow and David Warner’s 185-run partnership, set against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019.
But de Kock and Rahul’s partnership is the third highest in the IPL. RCB’s Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers stand at the top with 229 against Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 215* against Mumbai Indians in 2015.
Quinton de Kock’s family celebrates from stands as he reaches 100
LSG wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock’s family was seen celebrating from the stands as he reached his second hundred. In the family there was his wife Sasha and daughter Kiara who were celebrating de Kock’s milestone. His first century had come against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016.
