Franchises face their first IPL title as Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore face off in WPL final
Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have failed to win a single title. Both teams have been playing since the inaugural IPL in 2008 and their best results have been reaching the final. Now 16 years later, the franchises have a chance to win a trophy, but it won’t be the IPL.
The women’s team of the DC and RCB will be facing each other in the 2024 WPL final. It will be the first time either franchise would win silverware. RCB had reached the finals in 2023, but lost to Mumbai Indians.
DC, who topped the league stage with 12 points, gained direct entry to the final. MI and RCB, who finished 2nd and 3rd, played an eliminator to decide who reached the finals. RCB won the match, defending a target of 136.
Now the two sides will face off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. So far, DC has a 100% record against RCB in the WPL, not losing a single game across the two seasons. The final will begin at 7:30 pm IST.
