“Best uncapped player”- Rahul Tripathi’s 76 helps SRH post 193 in a must-win game vs Mumbai Indians
With an impressive knock from Rahul Tripathi, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a challenging total of 194 for the Mumbai Indians in the 65th IPL on Tuesday, May 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Talking about the match, Mumbai had won the toss and opted to bowl first. SRH didn’t have a good start after their opener Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal in the 3rd over. But that didn’t stop the Men in Orange from keeping the score-board moving because Rahul Tripathi walked out to bat then.
The pair of Priyam Garg and Rahul Tripathi stayed for a partnership to add a good total before the former got dismissed for 42 off 26 balls. He had smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes and, in the 10th, over, a ball from Ramandeep Singh made him disappointed. Singh bowled an overpitched ball and Garg pushed it with a straight bat, back to Ramandeep Singh who then made himself low to grab it cleanly for a caught and bowled.
That didn’t stop Rahul Tripathi as was able to do his work before succumbing to Ramandeep Singh in the 18th over. Ramandeep bowled round the wicket ad served it on length. Tripathi swung his bat but a top edge made the ball fly to long-on where Tilak Varma took it. He had scored 76 off 44 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Nicholas Pooran also played a quick 38 off 22 with 2 fours and 3 sixes before Riley Meredith sent him back with a brilliant diving catch from Mayank Markande. Tripathi scored his third 50 in IPL 2022.
Ramandeep Singh was the highest wicket taker for MI by bagging three wickets while Daniel Sams, Meredith, and Jasprit Bumrah had one wicket each. Bumrah aslo became the first Indian bowler to take 250 wickets. He also has the most runs by an uncapped player in IPL 2022.
