“In some brutal form”- Rajat Patidar scores fifty to help RCB post 157 vs RR in Qualifier 2
Rajat Patidar
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Rajat Patidar, who had played a match winning knock to help RCB thrash Lucknow Supergiants out of IPL scored his fifty in Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals on Friday, May 27 at the Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad.
Rajat Patidar had scored 58 runs in 42 balls including 4 fours and 3 sixes. But in the 15.3 overs, a flatter, lenth and outside off delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin made Patidar loft it over long off but failed and Jos Buttler caught the ball. RCB in the end scored 157/8 in 20 overs. Also, Patidar and Suresh Raina are the only Indian players to score 50+ in Eliminator and Qualifier 2. “Lovely guy, hardworking with a shy personality”- Dinesh Karthik on Rajat Patidar
Speaking on RCB’s Game Day segment, Dinesh Karthik described Patidar as a shy and hardworking guy.
“It was probably the best innings by an uncapped player that I’ve see. Outstanding batting. He is very cool, calm and has a shy personality. It shows in his batting, you get the feeling that he is lazy but that is just his personality. Lovely guy, hardworking with a shy personality. Rajat Patidar played some great shots and made my job easier, that’s a key factor in a good team,” said Karthik.
With a 54-ball 112*, Patidar created history by becoming the first player to score a century in IPL playoffs. When RCB had lost their key players in the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Faf du Plessis, no one had expected Rajat Patidar to play a knock that helped RCB post a match-winning total of 207 runs.
