The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to hire former players Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal and Rao Iftikhar Anjum in their Selection committee. They will now assist Wahab Riaz in the selection of the Pakistan team as the PCB rebuild their team management. Former PCB Chairman and Pakistan captain, Ramiz Raja, did not have kind words for the appointment.

Butt, the former Pakistan captain, was involved in the Pakistan spot-fixing controversy, where he along with 2 other Pakistan players were caught spot-fixing and were banned for 10 years. Butt served his punishment and jail time and returned to cricket in 2016, but never played for Pakistan.

It is insane to have a selection committee consisting of a member whose decision can be termed as a display of filial affection or non-affection and another who was locked up for match fixing.

Raja was unhappy with Butt’s appointment, calling it insane to hire someone who was locked up for fixing. Butt, Kamran Akram and Rao Iftikhar started their roles on 1st December, with their first assignment being Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand, where they will play 5 T20Is.

Junaid Khan says Pakistan became the no.1 team by laying weak teams

Former Pakistan pacer Junaid Khan was very critical of Babar Azam in a recent podcast with Nadir Shah. He believed Babar’s captaincy never improved, while Sarfaraz Khan at least won the Champions League in 2017.

People say we become ODI No. 1 team under Babar Azam’s captaincy. But we became No. 1 by playing against weak teams. Babar is not a quick learner. He is a world class batter but his captaincy was not up to the mark.

Khan told Nadir Shah.

He called Babar a world class batter, but not a quick learner, with his captaincy never up to the mark. He also said the former Pakistan captain lacked aggression.
