A brand-new edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has kicked off and India’s star off-spinner, R Ashwin has taken centre stage, playing for the Dindigul Dragons. The seasoned cricketer who plays for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) missed out on the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Nevertheless, with plenty of time left for India’s next assignment, Ashwin is taking part in TNPL 2023.
Now, as everyone knows, R Ashwin playing on the cricket field and things going smoothly don’t go hand in hand. The off-spinner keeps everyone on the edge of the seat with his unique on-field antics. While Ashwin keeps the batters in check with his variations in bowling, he keeps the umpires engaged by continuously challenging their decisions.
But this habit of Ashwin reached a new height when the off-spinner asked for a second review (the first was taken by the batter) on the same ball. As Ashwin got Trichy’s batter Rajkumar R caught behind, the batter challenged the decision. The Third umpire took his time before overruling the on-field decision to not out.
However, Ashwin was not satisfied and wanted the TV Umpire to have a relook. This was something unprecedented. Although the on-field umpires obliged Ashwin’s request, the not-out decision remained as the TV Umpire felt the batter had survived.

With Ashwin making headlines with his on-field antics yet again, fans could not keep their calm and were left flabbergasted at this weird turn of events. Many felt that this action from Ashwin made no sense as the umpire had already made his decision. However, a few enjoyed this little drama. Moreover, one of the fans also dragged Shubman Gill’s controversial caught-out decision in WTC Final.

Talking about the outcome of the match, Dindigul Dragons comfortably beat BA11SY Trichy (by six wickets). After bowling out Trichy for 120, Dindigul chased down the target in 14.5 overs.
