Mumbai Indians are currently at the bottom of the 2024 IPL points table, with no points. Their net run rate is at -1.423 and if this form continues, they won’t qualify for the playoffs. 

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif spoke about the poor form the Mumbai Indians are in. In a video on YouTube, he blamed the Ambani family for the team’s lackluster performances. He called the current batch of coaches as yes-men of the owners.

The decision from MI owners—appointing Mark Boucher, Malinga, Kieron Pollard—it is a huge group, but if there is a diktat (problem) from the top (owners) that this has to be done, then there is no one who has the power to resist or say no. You will get a lot of people who say yes boss, but those who have the courage to say no are the ones who are successful.

He further added that the Ambani family are acting like owners from the Pakistan Super League. Latif called the decision to appoint Hardik Pandya as captain, while removing Rohit Sharma, a wrong decision.

When Hardik Pandya was appointed as captain of Mumbai Indians, there were reports that stated Rohit Sharma would get traded to Delhi Capitals. The reports also claimed that MI was trying to get David Warner in Sharma place.

While many did not know why they attempted to trade Sharma away, a reporter on his YouTube account claimed Pandya wanted Sharma to leave. Ultimately the move didn’t work, with Sharma and DC not able to agree terms. 

Pandya and Mumbai will now play Delhi Capitals on 7th April at the Wankhede Stadium. They look to win their first match of the season and finally give the fans something to celebrate.
