“You’re not playing that much cricket,” Ravi Shastri is ‘damn’ frustrated with recurring injuries of India pacers

Deepak Chahar, Ravi Shastri
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri is annoyed with the recurring injuries of Indian pacers. While discussing the latest injury to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Deepak Chahar, Shastri pointed out that their workloads were not so big that they are still picking up injuries.
Chahar had bowled just one over during CSK’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) but pulled out of the match after picking a left hamstring injury. Chahar has been dealing with a recurring hamstring injury, and because of this, he couldn’t complete his overs in the second ODI against Bangladesh last year in December.
He then flew to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He had been undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA for the majority of 2022 since picking a Grade 3 quadriceps tear last February.
“Let’s put it this way: there are quite a few in the last three or four years who are permanent residents of the NCA,” Shastri said on ESPNcricinfo’s T20 Time: Out ahead of the Yellow Army’s match against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 12).

Ravi Shastri questions what the players are doing at the NCA
Shastri then pointed out that these players are not playing that much cricket to sustain the injuries again despite being declared fit by the NCA medical team. “Come on, you’re not playing that much cricket to be inured again and again,” Shastri said.
He questioned the pacers about what they are doing at the NCA because several times, these players make a comeback to cricket again, but after a few games, they pick up an injury and subsequently head toward the NCA. “It’s just four overs [in the IPL], man, three hours.” He also pointed out that some of these players do not play any other cricket in a year.
