“If selectors don’t pick them now…,” Ravi Shastri issues ultimatum to BCCI, urges bosses to select these TWO players for ODI World Cup

Ravi Shastri urges the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to not ignore Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is set to take place in India later this year. These two youngsters have fired on all cylinders in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rinku Singh has emerged as a consistent finisher for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In a match against the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), the 25-year-old smacked five back-to-back sixes to chase down a massive 200-run total. After that bizarre innings, Rinku kept playing consistently.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals always expects the young Yashasvi Jaiswal to give the team a powerful start and though the other star opener Jos Buttler has been struggling, Jaiswal did not disappoint. He even slammed his maiden IPL ton this season. And yesterday, against KKR, while chasing 150, Jaiswal smashed the fastest half-century in the history of the T20 extravaganza, off just 13 balls. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t hammer his second century and remained not out on 98 off 47 balls with 12 boundaries and five sixes after winning the match by nine runs.
And that is why, former India head coach Ravi Shastri issued an ultimatum to select Jaiswal and Rinku for the ODI World Cup and simultaneously prepare them for the 2024 T20 World Cup as well. “If Team India is focussing on ODI World Cup, selectors should look to give as many opportunities to the youngsters like Yashasvi and Rinku. These players should be fast-tracked and can be prepared for next year’s T20 World Cup in West Indies. If the selectors don’t pick them now then I don’t know what else they are looking for,” Shastri said on Star Sports.

Yashasvi Jaisal broke THESE records after yesterday’s carnage
Jaiswal smacked his half-century within just 2.5 overs, which is the same as when KL Rahul smacked his quickest 50 while representing Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2018. Jaiswal even broke Rahul’s as well as Pat Cummins’ record of fastest half-century. These two players hammered the 50 off just 14 balls.
His fastest half-century also helped RR chase down the 150-run target in 13.1 overs, which is the second quickest any team has gone past in IPL while chasing. The Mumbai batter smashed 26 runs in the first over bowled by Nitish Rana, the most scored in just one over, surpassing Prithvi Shaw’s 24.
