Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the most difficult bowlers to face in subcontinent conditions. In the Tests played in India, he has picked up 337 wickets with an average of just 20.87. Against England at home, he has taken 74 wickets in 13 matches. 

During the BCCI awards, which was held on the night of 23rd January, Ashwin won the Best International Cricketer award (2020-21) and the Dilip Sardesai award (2022-23). Before winning the award, Ravi Shastri was on stage and spoke about Ashwin’s new haircut. He added that now Ashwin’s brain will get more air, so the visiting England side could face some new deliveries.

Ashwin just mentioned, I am going to get up and do better. Now that he has had this haircut and his brains are free, with the air going through, now can you imagine what all he is thinking? There could be a 'Theesra', there could be a 'choutha'. England will find out very soon, in the next couple of months.

England and India will compete in a 5-match Test series which will begin from 25th of January. Ashwin enjoys bowling in India, as he is going to be dangerous thanks to the spin friendly pitches. 

Ravi Shastri awarded C.K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award 

During the BCCI awards, Ravi Shastri was awarded the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award along with Farokh Engineer. He was awarded the prestigious award for his contribution towards Indian cricket.

Making his debut for India in 1981. A reliable batter, Shastri could play anywhere in the batting order. He was also a handy bowler, being a left-arm off-spinner. He was a part of the Indian team that won the 1983 World Cup, playing five matches. He was also Indian captain for 11 ODIs and two Tests. Being an important part of the Indian team, he played till 1992, but was dropped after a knee injury.

Shastri retired from cricket in 1993, at the age of 31, and began working as a commentator in 1995. He temporarily coached the Indian side in 2007, but was later appointed as head coach in 2017. Under his tenure, India won the 2018 Asia Cup.

In 2019, India became the first Indian side to win a Test series in Australia. Under his tutelage, India once again won in the country in 2021 with a team that battled injuries and absences of big players. He retired as Indian head coach after the 2021 T20 World Cup and has returned to commentary.
