India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin gave his honest opinion on England’s fast-paced cricket called ‘Bazball’. This name has been in use since former New Zealand cricketer, Brendon McCullum‘s becoming the head coach of the English side. McCullum used to play quick knocks in the longest format and that Bazfall style of cricket did find success in England.

But Ashwin thinks, Bazball won’t work on certain conditions. “We now have a concept called Bazball,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. “England is playing high-paced Test match cricket. They want to play a certain style of cricket. But in certain types of wicket, when you try and attack every ball, you will falter. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this approach.”

Ashwin believes that conditions on the wicket need to be respected. He said that if a team pays respect to the pitch and plays accordingly, then “the pitch will also respect you.” England are yet to play their Bazball style of cricket on Indian conditions.

Why India is unbeatable on Indian tracks due to the presence of world-class spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. To beat India, the tourists at first have to beat these spinners, which is nearly impossible.

Australia, who were enjoying a great deal at the top amongst Test teams have severely damaged their morale in front of India. The ‘Spin Twin’ wreaked havoc in both the Tests, skittling out the visitors to win the match in just three days.

In the two tests, they have so far taken 31 wickets collectively. In fact, these two have scalped 462 wickets in 45 matches and are eyeing to break another legendary spin duo’s record. Harbhajan Singh (220) and Anil Kumble (281) had a total of 501 wickets (in 54 Tests).

Aussie spearhead and skipper Pat Cummins, who stayed on top of the rankings, was dethroned by the 40-year-old James Anderson. But given that India will play two more Tests, Anderson’s spot at the summit is also in danger. Ashwin, who now occupies the second spot, can soon become the number Test bowler for the first time since 2017.

Meanwhile, India have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and will be seen in action for the third Test in Indore, starting March 1. Steve Smith will be leading the Aussies in the absence of Cummins.
