“So much cricket happening,” Ravichandran Ashwin says after Himachal Pradesh cricketer Sidharth Sharma passes away at 28

Himachal Pradesh cricketer Sidharth Sharma passed away at the age of 28, on Thursday (January 12) at about 9:00 pm. He was with the Himachal Pradesh team in Gujarat for the Ranji Trophy.
He was complaining of breathing trouble during a practice session in Vadodara on December 31 and was hospitalized that day. He had been on the ventilator for the past two weeks.
His last rites were performed in Punjab, and he was cremated at Bhabhor Saheb crematorium on Friday, January 13. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwvinder Singh Sukhu announced the news of Sidharth on his official Twitter handle.
India veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also expressed his condolences to Sidharth’s family. “This is scary. Hope every state association will have periodic health check ups for players across age groups. There is so much cricket happening and most of the cricketers find themselves on the road through the year. My thoughts are to Siddharth’s family.”

Who is Sidharth Sharma?

Sidharth Sharma was born on October 23, 1994, in Una, Himachal Pradesh. He made his first-class debut for Himachal Pradesh against Bengal in the 2017-18 season. In 6 FC matches, he scalped 25 wickets with his best bowling figures of 5/69. He played six List A games and one T20 game.
He was even part of the Himachal Pradesh team that won the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2021-2022 season. In that tournament, he played three matches, including the final against Tamil Nadu where he scalped one wicket and conceded 34 runs in his 10 overs. His last Ranji Trophy match was against Bengal at the Eden Gardens last December.
