India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin slammed those people who pass comments and call out Team India members for their failure in the ICC events. He urged the fans to support the Men in Blue in the upcoming 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, starting in October in India.

India reach the knockout stages almost every time in ICC events, they have not yet tasted victory since the 2013 Champions Trophy. Ashwin, though he features in red-ball cricket most of the time and played his last ODI match in January 2022, extended his support for Team India players and asked fans to do the same.

It is very easy to pass comments sitting from outside. It hurts me to see some of the comments. Do you know how hard the players work?” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin added that there needs to be lots of positivity. He thinks the Indian players should think the fans have got their back, claiming there is not a hardworking team like India in the world, and pointed out how the players toil in practice sessions and gym.

In the last edition of the ODI World Cup in 2019, India’s hopes were shattered by New Zealand in the semifinals. They faced the same result in the T20 World Cup last year, losing to eventual winner England.

This year, as the ODI World Cup will be played on home soil, Rohit Sharma and Co. will kick start their campaign with added pressure. The team hosting the ODI World Cup has won the trophy in the last three editions. It’s safe to say that though fans will continue to back India, the team selection and injuries of star players are the major concerns the management has been dealing with.
