India great Kapil Dev feels the current generation of Indian players has become arrogant and know-it-all because they are getting rich with contracts from Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. During an interview with The Week, Dev took a dig at the current players by recalling what Sunil Gavaskar had said about how this generation doesn’t ask for help from the former cricketers despite struggling. Now India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave a sharp answer to Dev’s claim.

Jadeja was quizzed about the same during the pre-match press conference on Monday ahead of the third ODI against West Indies. “I don’t know when he said this. I don’t search these things on social media,” Jadeja told the reporters.

“See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share their opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team.”

Jadeja then added that every player takes pride in representing the country, that they work hard without taking anything for granted, and that there is no personal agenda. He also feels that such comments from former cricketers only come when India lose a match.

India head coach Rahul Dravid admitted that the management is experimenting with India’s playing XI before the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. But he decided that that series is the last one where India is experimenting. This statement drew heavy criticism because just two months are left for the World Cup to start.

But Ravindra Jadeja defended Rahul Dravid’s decision to rest two senior players, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, from playing the second ODI. Jadeja asserted that this is the only series where India can experiment and try new combinations and that they do have not much time to do the same during the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
