Ravindra Jadeja, who revealed that he hates being called “Sir”, returned from a career-threatening injury. The comeback man that he is, scalped five wickets in the first innings to restrict Australia to 177 plus fans even saw the famous ‘Sword’ celebration after he registered 70 runs in Nagpur. He would later pick up two more wickets and his all-around performance awarded him with the Player of the Match trophy.

Don’t even try and judge me dude. You have no idea what the f*** I’ve been through,” Jadeja had written on his Twitter by quoting the American rapper Eminem. Not this year though; it was back in 2013 when the spinner from Saurashtra would often share what he had in his mind on social media. Right now, he keeps a low profile and doesn’t give interviews much.

But recently, during a chat with the Indian Express, Jadeja revealed how the trolls on Twitter make him angry. Fans on Twitter, as it is generally known, create memes about players based on their performance. Jadeja’s critics- the Twitter trolls-have no idea what he went through to reach where he is now.

Reacting to that Eminem quote, he said, “On days when I haven’t done well, they start trolling, calling me names. They say things without knowing the kind of hard work I have done to reach this stage. Small, small things there are so many struggles and sacrifices that I don’t even remember now.”

He talked about how those fans, who used to troll him one time for his poor performance and would take the U-turn to salute him for being the star of the match.

Computer ke saamne fukre log baithe rehte hain, meme banate rehte hain aur kuch bhi likhte rehte hain (Those idlers sitting in front of a computer have nothing to do, they sit and make memes and write anything that comes to their mind).

He even talked about how his earning money in the Indian Premier League (IPL) made him a target of mockery among the fans on Twitter. How Jadeja feels about these things? “Believe me, in IPL, they don’t pick you by seeing your face“. Jadeja knows perfectly well that the criticism thrown at him doesn’t matter to him. Because if they did, he wouldn’t have reached this far.

It’s better to call him “Bapu” next time because that’s what everyone calls each other in his community. Or, “People should call me by my name. That is enough,” he had said once. He will return to action in the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting February 17, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
