Ravindra Jadeja shows magic against Aussies in BGT Series with a 7-wicket haul on Sunday
Be sure, he is going to be a thorn in the flesh for the Aussies in the last two Tests as well.
Ravindra Jadeja
This man Ravindra Jadeja, he sure knows how to bamboozle the Aussies. In his comeback trail after a knee surgery, the 34-year-old has shown that he can be a terror for the visitors with his guile and guts. For all those who woke up late on Sunday morning, Sir Ravindra Jadeja was in a world of his own.
Compared to how the Aussies batted on Saturday, on Day Two of the second Test in the BGT series, on Sunday, they were clueless. But then, to not give credit to Jadeja would be wrong. There is simplicity and speed in his bowling. His slow left-arm spin is not really slow. He bowls quick through the air, the accuracy is nagging and the way he completes his overs will always help a captain in ensuring the over-rate does not drop.
Sunday morning was a dream spell for Jadeja as the Aussies batted to doom, using the sweep shot, injudiciously. Batters of pedigree and batters with skills were employing the sweep shot. On a typical Ferozeshah Kotla wicket, or the Arun Iaitley Stadium, the bounce is always low. To bat against Jadeja means to be dead sure of what to do. This was almost like a vicious bait, one man teasing and tormenting the Aussies.
Sunday belongs to Ravindra Jadeja as he struck repeatedly
There are many ways to play spin and the sweep is an effective shot if you know how to use it. No, not on this day. For sheer penetration and the way Jadeja ran through the order on Sunday morning, Jadeja, now with a ponytail and wearing dark glasses, was the rock star. He was nagging in line and length and all those in the stands who came early to the venue were treated to some brilliant exhibition of left arm bowling.
India has produced many top class left arm spinners, with Bishan Bedi the best. Jadeja is different, he may not be a great turner of the ball but he plays so many mind games. He knows how to psyche out batters, getting 259 wickets till now. That’s not all, with the bat, too, Jadeja has been standout far too many times. This man is a true all-rounder and the way he preys on the mind of batters in the company of R.Ashwin is dangerous. The Aussies have had nightmares dealing with these two spinners, Jadeja and Ashwin.
Sunday belongs to Jadeja as he struck repeatedly. It was as if the cricket stadium had been hit by an earthquake, triggered by Ravindra Jadeja. To bowl 12.1 overs and capture 7 for 42 was sensational. This venue has seen a certain Anil Kumble complete a Perfect 10. This was a Perfect 7 from Jadeja. Be sure, he is going to be a thorn in the flesh for the Aussies in the last two Tests as well. It’s hard to say he was injured and out for almost five months.
