Ravindra Jadeja
India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is set to return to the cricket field in Ranji Trophy. Prior to this, his two-worded tweet to announce his arrival sent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans into a frenzy.
Jadeja took to Twitter on Sunday (January 22) and wrote: “Vanakkam Chennai.” He has arrived in Chennai to play for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu.

In July last year, Jadeja deleted all his CSK-related tweets on Instagram, which sparked speculation that he won’t be a part of the yellow-based team in 2023. He relinquished captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 after MS Dhoni stepped down from the role a few days before the start of the league.
Under Jadeja, CSK didn’t have a great campaign in the first half, and later Dhoni took up the leadership role in the second half. CSK’s retaining Jadeja ahead of IPL 2023 auction in December last year quashed all rift rumors.

Ravindra Jadeja’s availability in Tests vs Australia is subject to fitness
Jadeja has been out of action since September last year as he sustained a knee injury against Hong Kong on August 31 during Asia Cup. This led to Team India not getting his services in the T20 World Cup as well. After the injury, he went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation and underwent surgery.
Jadeja played his last Test in the rescheduled fourth Test against England at Edgebaston last year in July. The 34-year-old will be in action on Tuesday (January 24) when Saurashtra will lock horns with Tamil Nadu at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
“His training and workload will be as per the National Cricket Academy protocols. In fact I had sent Jaddu a WhatsApp text saying that the boys are really excited to have him back. He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team,” Saurashtra’s coach Niraj Odedra told Sportster.
“It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that caliber joining the team is a huge morale boost as well,” Odedra added.
He is also part of the first two Tests of the Gavaskar-Border Trophy, starting February 9 in Nagpur. But his availability is subject to fitness.
Jadeja has played 60 Tests for India, scalping 242 wickets and amassing 2523 runs, including three tons, and 17 half-centuries with his highest score being 175. He has 2447 runs and 189 wickets off 171 ODIs, and in 64 T20Is, he scored 457 runs plus picked up 51 wickets.
