Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) confirmed the onboarding of former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Head Coach Andy Flower as their new Head Coach ahead of IPL 2024 on Friday (4 August). As RCB’s Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and coach Sanjay Bangar did not get their contracts renewed, Flower has come on board as the new coach.

Andy Flower who was with LSG for two editions of the IPL, was replaced by Justin Langer in the LSG camp earlier this month.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have been a part of the Indian Premier League ever since the league’s inception in 2008. However, they have failed to lay hands on the elusive title even once. The team made it to the finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but could not end on the right side of the result.

Now, with Andy Flower coming on board, the team and its fans will hope for a change in luck. Flower comes with a wealth of experience, having coached teams across different T20 leagues around the globe.

The Zimbabwean boasts of a fantastic track record in franchise-based cricket, having guided the Multan Sultans (PSL), Trent Rockets (The Hundred), Maratha Arabians (Abu Dhabi T10), and Gulf Giants (ILT20) to title wins. It will be interesting to see if Flower can help RCB break the jinx in IPL 2024.
