LSG had won the toss and opted to bowl first. RCB started their innings by losing their openers Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli in the first over itself. It was with the incredible inning of team captain Faf du Plessis that RCB were able to set a competitive score of 181/2 for LSG.

In the match du Plessis, unfortunately missed a century by just 4 runs. He scored 96 from 11 balls by hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes. He kept the scoreboard moving throughout Royal Challengers’ inning. But in the final over, when just two balls were left, Du Plessis tried for the rope off Jason Holder but the ball didn’t connect well. Marcus Stoinis, who was at the deep square leg took an easy catch.

LSG started their innings with openers Quinton de Kock (3 off 5) and KL Rahul (30 off 24). Except for Krunal Pandya’s quick 42 off 28 balls, where he hit 5 fours and 2 sixes, LSG stumbled to reach the target by 18 runs.

Bangalore’s Josh Hazelwood scalped a 4-wicket haul in his 4 overs with an economy rate of 6.25. Hazelwood grabbed wickets of de Kock, Manish Pandey, Ayush Badoni, and Marcus Stoinis.

Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli took the captaincy responsibilities after Faf du Plessis took some time off from field after his sensational 96 off 64 balls. During RCB’s innings du Plessis was hit on the hand by a throw from KL Rahul. He looked exhausted before he was dismissed four runs short of his maiden ton in his 100th IPL innings in the 20th over.
