“Real Superstar,” Netizens praise Shubman Gill for his mature knock against Punjab Kings

Gujarat Titans (GT) took on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. GT captain, Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pandya’s decision was backed well by his bowlers as Punjab were restricted to 153/8 in their 20 overs. It was a team effort from GT bowlers as everyone apart from Mohit Sharma picked up a wicket each. Sharma took a brace to keep PBKS in check throughout their innings. After the bowlers, GT openers also did their job well enough as Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha stitched up a 48-run partnership.

While Saha fell prey to Kagiso Rabada, Gill continued with his hitting. The GT opener kept the scoreboard running and eventually scored a half-century off 40 balls on a sluggish Mohali wicket. However, Gill could not see his side over as Sam Curran knocked off his off-stump in the 20th over. The batter scored 67 off 49 balls.

Nevertheless, it was a great knock from Gill as the young batter kept GT alive in the chase with his timely boundaries. And fans were quick to praise the batter for his fighting knock.

Rahul Tweatia does it again

After Shubman Gill got out, it was on David Miller and Rahul Tewatia to finish things off. Meanwhile, Sam Curran had the job to stop them. The Punjab pacer succeeded to some extent as he conceded only two runs off the next two deliveries, bringing the equation to 4 off 2.

Curran ran in to deliver the fifth ball of the over and the left-arm pacer landed the ball in the right place again. However, Tewatia was ready for it as the southpaw went down on one knee and paddled scooped the ball for a boundary and finished it for GT, yet again.
