“This man deserves everything”- Reece Topley stars with ball, picks 6 wickets to bowl out India for 146
Reece Topley
In the second ODI between India and England, the latter was asked to bat first and they scored 246 runs which India failed to reach. It was pacer Reece Topley to do damage to the Indian batsmen. He picked up six wickets and shone for England. He did what pacer Jasprit Bumrah did for India in the previous ODI by scalping six wickets.
With the help of Yuzvendra Chahal, India were successfull to restrict England but when their time came for batting, they found it rather difficut to bat. India’s start didn’t go well as opener and captain Rohit Sharma had gone on duck off 10 balls. He was Topley’s first wicket. Topley then sent back Shikhar Dhawan on 9 runs off 26 balls.
Virat Kohli stayed at the crease for some time and scored 16 runs off 25 balls with three fours but soon the same bowler showed him the way to the dressing room. India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant took a long walk back to the dug out after spending so very less time at the crease. Even he went back on duck off 5 balls but this time, it was bowler Brydon Carse.
Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya tried to steadied India’s innings. Suryakumar palyed 29 balls to score 27 runs with one six and one boundary before the Toply bowled him out. But Hardik Pandya, who was playing on 29 off 44 was being dismissed by Moeen Ali when Liam Livingstone took a low catch.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 29 runs off 44 balls by smashing one boundary and a six before Livingstone bowled him out. Even Mohammed Shami scored 23 runs off 28 balls to save India’s innings but they could do nothing further and India got all out on 146. Reece Topley’s figures of 6/24 at Lord’s is best ever figures in ODIs there. It’s also the best figures by an English bowler.
