India and Pakistan are set to lock horns on Sunday (September 10) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This match will be a part of the Super 4 stage. Both Pakistan and India reached the Super 4 after securing the required points in the Group stage.
India’s first match against Pakistan on September 2 ended without any result due to rain. Though India batted in the first innings despite rain interruptions two times, Pakistan did not even get an over to bat to chase the 267-run target. The match was called off with the two teams sharing a point each.
Now reports have emerged that if the India-Pakistan match gets washed out due to rain, there will be a reserve day for the high-octane clash. This is great news for the close watchers of the game because they want to experience some exhilarating matches and what’s better than a rare match between the two rival neighbors?
“A reserve day has been incorporated for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4’s match between Pakistan and India scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo,” the ACC said in a statement.
Checl fans reactions after ACC’s special annoucement
Overjoyed Indian fans started pulling Pakistan fans’ legs saying that now they can witness Pakistan’s defeat to Rohit Sharma and Company. Pakistani fans reacted the same way, mocking India for failing to face Pakistani speedsters like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah. Some of the fans pointed out that there is a high chance of heavy rain on reserve day also.
In the Group stage match between India and Pakistan, the former team won the toss and chose to bat first. After Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf broke India’s back by getting rid of the top-order batters, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan saved India from falling apart.
They stuck a 138-run stand with Pandya scoring 87 runs and Kishan playing an 82-run knock. Their innings took India to 266. Due to rain, Pakistan did not get the chance to start their innings.
