“Retiring?” Netizens react as Rohit Sharma poses with 5 IPL trophies ahead of his birthday

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma posed for a picture with the five IPL trophies won by his team so far, ahead of his 36th birthday. Along with Rohit’s birthday, there is one more special occasion the Mumbai-based franchise is celebrating, the tenth anniversary of Sharma being appointed as MI captain. As Rohit was appointed as Mumbai captain on 24 April 2013, the franchise is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

For the same, MI also organized a special photoshoot where Rohit posed with the five IPL trophies. In a video shared by MI on their social media handles, Rohit can be seen walking on the stairs of the Wankhede Stadium. The MI captain also poses before the camera with the five IPL titles won by his team under his captaincy.

While the Mumbai Indians fans were floored with this video, not everyone found the video entertaining. Most of the cricket fans on Twitter found that it was “cringe” and flexing titles in midst of a season was not justified.

While there is no doubt that Mumbai Indians (MI) is the most successful team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Rohit Sharma-led team has not been living up to the expectations from the last two seasons. While they finished as wooden spooners in IPL 2022, MI have not done a great job this season as well.

The five-time champions have lost four out of seven matches played so far. After three consecutive wins, MI lost two games on the trot and may be staring at another defeat when they face the mighty Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday.
