KKR’s star batter in the IPL 2023 season, Rinku Singh caught everyone’s attention after he smoked 5 sixes in a row against the Gujarat Titans to see his side home. His impressive performance in the season was appreciated by everyone. However, the Aligarh cricketer failed to make the cut into the national squad as Singh was not named in India’s T20I squad for the West Indies series. While Rinku has stayed put, his coach has revealed how the cricketer must have felt upon getting ignored.

Rinku Singh has had a real ‘rags to riches’ upgrade through his cricketing career, a nobody from the streets of Aligarh to everyone’s ‘Lord Rinku,’ he’s come a long way. He has won the hearts of many fans and already has a fanbase.

When asked about his hopes for playing India, he said to News18, “Lekin main itna soch nahi raha, India-vindiya ka abhi. Jo kismat mein hoga mil jayega”

Rinku Singh was the 9th highest run getter in the 2023 IPL season, he scored 474 runs at an average of 59.25. He averages 58.38 in first class cricket and 53 in List A. Rinku is more inclined towards playing the longer formats of the game for India but it may be too soon for him to find a spot there.

Even though Rinku Singh’s coach was a tad bit disappointed with Rinku’s exclusion from the T20I squad for the West Indies series, he still believes that it would not affect him too much. He thinks that Rinku Singh will continue to work hard on his game and not let the squad news affect his preparation at all.

“But I’m sure, the non-selection won’t bother him much. He would say, ‘Koi baat nahi, mehnat karunga, aur kya’. He won’t give up. Wo mehnat karega, aur achha karne ki koshish karega. I think he would figure out where did he miss out on a spot in the Indian team,” Rinku’s coach was quoted saying by News18 Cricketnext.

While it may be too soon for Rinku Singh to be added to the national side, if he can continue to put up impressive performances, the BCCI might open doors for an exciting left-handed middle-order batter who can finish games for the team.
