Rishabh Pant developed his game like Dhoni – Childhood coach of Kuldeep Yadav

Pant, MSD and Kuldeep

Kuldeep Yadav is currently having a brilliant season with Delhi Capitals. He has bagged 17 wickets and bowled at an unbelievably good economy rate. Last season the leg spinner had a tough season with the Kolkata Knight Riders. His boyhood coach Kapil Dev Pandey says that Delhi captain Rishabh Pant plays a catalyst in Kuldeep’s success.

Yadav is taking wickets at regular intervals every match. He is competing with Rajasthan Royals spinner Yuzi Chahal for the purple cap. If Yadav manages to take the most number of wickets this IPL, he will be winning his maiden purple cap.

According to boyhood coach Pandey’s words to TOI, Rishabh Pant has been guiding him and mentoring him from behind the wickets. He even draws similarities of Rishabh with the legendary Indian former captain MS Dhoni.

Kuldeep and Pant

Dhoni has played a significant part in developing young cricketers and mentoring them in the team. Dhoni‘s insights had helped Kuldeep Yadav develop his game and establish himself as a starter in the Indian team.

“Pant is doing what Dhoni used to do with Kuldeep. Pant is guiding him the way Dhoni did. Pant has shown a lot of trust in him. He is guiding him from behind the stumps, instructing him. He and Pant have great coordination on the field. They are on the same page about most things.”

The Delhi Capitals acquired the services of leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the 2022 IPL mega auction. Delhi coach Ricky Ponting and captain Rishabh Pant were all praises for the 27-year-old.

Kuldip has the full confidence and faith of the Delhi management, and it has resulted in impeccable results. His ex-coach said that nothing is more important and then winning the confidence of the team management on the captain.

“He is so thankful to Delhi Capitals for giving him this opportunity. Delhi showed faith in him and he is repaying that faith. He needs mental support and he got that from (Rishabh) Pant and (Ricky) Ponting.

“Ponting and Pant have asked him to go and express himself in the middle and he is doing just that. He has the full support of Ponting and Pant. When the captain and coach back you, what else do you need?”
