Shubman Gill run-out

Rishi Dhawan, Punjab Kings’ all-rounder displayed a masterclass by hitting the stumps to run-out Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill on Tuesday, May 3 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

GT openers didn’t give a good start as Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scored 21 and 9 respectively. It was Kagiso Rabada who from the starting kept restricting the Titans by first dismissing Saha.

But before that Shubman Gill had to walk back because of an excellent throw by Dhawan. Gill hit the ball towards the cover and went for a run. But Rishi Dhawan picked it up quickly and aimed it at the bullseye to caught Shubman Gill short by a good distance.

But Shubman Gill seemed frustrated because he thought PBKS bowler Sandeep Sharma got in his way but the latter didn’t move at all in his follow-through. Gill then made his way to the dressing room. Here is the video:

Meanwhile, Gujarat won the toss and decided to bat first. Along with the openers, the middle order batsmen also faltered and if it wasn’t for Sai Sudarshan’s maiden half-century knock, the Titans’ situation would have been a miserable one. Sudarshan played a knock of 64 off 50 balls to lift Gujarat Titans’ target to 143/8.

During the toss, Gujarat Titans’ skipper Hardik Pandya shed some light on different players who have displayed their skills when needed.
He said: “Have to always stay on top of our games, can’t be complacent. A lot of things have gone our way, but it could’ve gone the other way as well.”

During the match against Punjab, Rishi Dhawan also sent Hardik Pandya just for 1 run. Dhawan bowled it outside the off-stumps and Pandya’s outside edge hit the ball and Jitesh Sharma took a comfortable catch. Rishi Dhawan then sent Pandya with a flying kiss.
