Ahead of the 2023 Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, India skipper Rohit Sharma shed light on the rivalry between the two nations. He spoke particularly about the Pakistani pace trio- Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf.

Rohit said that though India do not have bowlers like the three Pakistani pacemen, they have their quality bowlers- Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami. “Look, we don’t have Shaheen, Naseem, or Rauf with us in the nets. We’ll practice with the bowlers we have available,” Rohit said in the pre-match press conference.

“We have quite a few quality bowlers, all performing well and playing together. Yes, all three are performing brilliantly too,” he added. Rohit further added that India have been playing against Pakistan’s quality bowlers so they have to capitalize on their experience.

The veteran India batter and India captain Rohit Sharma has a brilliant record against Pakistan. In 16 ODIs against the arch-rivals, he has amassed 720 runs at an average of 51.4 and has maintained a strike rate of 88.8.

The 36-year-old has scored two centuries. One of them was his 140-run knock at the ICC 2019 ODI World Cup. The other century was scored in the 2018 Asia Cup match.

In the last match against Pakistan at the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, Rohit became the victim of Haris Rauf in the fourth over. All he scored was a mere four runs against the arch-rivals.
