Rohit Sharma was appointed as India’s Test captain in 2022 after consistent performances as the opener. He was regarded as one of India’s best batters, but in the past few months he has shown a drop in form.

Ever since his century against Australia in the 2022, he has struggled to bat in India. His highest score since that century has been 39 against England. Along with that, he had struggled in South Africa as well, scoring only 60 runs in four innings. Often gifting his wicket by falling in the traps of the opposition, he has faced some flak for his impatient knocks by fans.

Sharma once again failed to score big as he was dismissed for 14 in the first innings of the 2nd Test against England in Vizag. Batting first, he batted 41 deliveries before being dismissed by debutant Shoaib Bashir. The off-spinner bowled the ball which spun into his pads. Sharma went to flick it but instead edged it to Ollie Pope at leg slip.

Fans fed up of Rohit Sharma as he scores another low score

Fans were unhappy with the way Rohit Sharma batted in the first innings. Despite it being a flat pitch, his wicket was an extremely soft dismissal. Fans called out his poor form, with many demanding him to be dropped. One said he should retire as he is now 37 year-old, while other mocked him for his poor batting.

This is Sharma’s 7th innings without a 40+ score. Since the South Africa tour, he has averaged only 20.5 per innings, which is worrisome for him and the team. India right now are 180-3 in 51 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring his 2nd Test century.
