India captain Rohit Sharma spoke to the media before the first ODI between India and West Indies. While Rohit Sharma was answering questions, someone slipped in a question about Virat Kohli’s first overseas Test century in five years and clearly it did not sit well with the India captain. Sharma looked annoyed although he answered the question.

Rohit said that there are no such talks about individual performances in the dressing room and the team is focused on how to get better results. The India captain said that while individual performances do help the team, the focus is on bringing the best out of every player rather than talking about milestones.

“I have answered this question multiple times. The outside noise, who has scored how much or has taken how many wickets or hasn’t taken… People sitting outside, when they talk, they don’t know what is happening inside,” said an annoyed Sharma (via News18 Cricketnext).

“Inside talks remain inside and we want it to stay inside only. We don’t look into all those things. For us, it is important how we win a win or a series. Our focus is on that instead of who is talking about what. This is something that I have said a number of times and in the future as well I will say this only,” he added.

The India captain then shared a small suggestion for his teammate Virat Kohli. Rohit suggested that as the whole team is focused on the three ODIs against the West Indies, Kohli should also focus on the same.

Rohit also talked about how they avoid unnecessary talks with players. While indirectly citing the example of Kohli said that some players do not need to be told what their job is as they have played enough matches to understand it themselves. Sharma then said that the captain and coach are more focused on making the atmosphere in the dressing room lively.
