Two absolute legends of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to face the West Indies bowling line-up in July. The two stalwarts have had stellar ODI careers and scored more than 25 centuries each. Virat Kohli has amassed 46 ODI centuries, whereas Rohit Sharma has 30 centuries and 3 double centuries to his name.

Virat Kohli scored his last ODI hundred in January this year against Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram. Rohit Sharma also scored his last ODI hundred in January this year against New Zealand at Indore. However recently, in red-ball cricket, the duo had failed outings in the WTC Final against Australia where India lost the final by 209 runs.

Nevertheless, the focus now shifts to white-ball cricket, and with the ODI World Cup scheduled later this year, both Rohit and Kohli need to fire. With hardly two months left before the tournament gets underway, every match, including the three ODIs against the West Indies becomes important.

One of India’s best white-ball players, Rohit Sharma has scored 9,825 runs in his ODI career so far at an average of 48.63. Out of his 30 ODI centuries, 3 have come against the West Indies. The Indian opener has had more than a decent knack for scoring runs against the Windies.

One of India’s best batters across formats, Virat Kohli has amassed 12,898 runs in his ODI career so far at an average of 57.32. 9 of his 46 ODI centuries have come against the Windies. Kohli’s record of 9 centuries against the West Indies is parallel to Sachin Tendulkar’s 9 centuries against Australia. Virat Kohli has the most centuries against the Windies for an Indian batter. Kohli certainly loves playing against them.

The century tally clearly puts Kohli above Rohit but Team India will hope both their big guns can fire moving into the ODI World Cup later this year. The pair has scored 5 double hundred partnerships and 18 hundred stands together, more often than not seeing their team to victory. Their form is vital for India’s success and there’s no denying that.
