The year was 2008, and BCCI had introduced the first of its kind, T20 league which consisted 8 teams to battle it for the IPL trophy lasted almost 2 months. And the first team to win it? The Rajasthan Royals led by Australian legend, Shane Warne. The Aussie led the team to victory in the maiden season of IPL.
Fast forward 14 years, Rajasthan are going to play their second ever IPL final against the Gujarat Titans, aiming to make it 2 titles to their name. The cricketing fraternity lost Shane Warne this year due to a heart attack at the age of 52 years. Rajasthan being the one and only team he played for in the IPL, former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar has urges RR to win it for their former captain.

In the memory of Shane Warne” – Shoaib Akhtar’s heart lies with RR ahead of IPL finals
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Shoaib Akhtar said, “One team (Rajasthan) has made the final after 14 years. In memory of Shane Warne, I hope Rajasthan go out there and smash Gujarat. Heart says, ‘RR win it for Shane Warne’. They have faced a lot of difficulties to reach the final after 14 years. But, as I had said earlier, I also always wanted one of the new teams to win because they have played so well. I will go with Gujarat.”
Akhtar added, “Both Rajasthan and Gujarat will be nervous. RR will have a point to prove as they have made the final for the first time since 2008. They will be excited and their aggression will be over the moon. On the other hand, Gujarat will also want to leave their mark in their first season.” Gujarat will play the match at their home ground, Narendra Modi stadium for the first time in the finals of IPL 2022.
