Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in his Parliamentary constituency Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday (September 23). Cricketing greats like Sunil Gavaskar, and Sachin Tendulkar among others like Ravi Shastri, and Dilip Vengsarkar will be the guests at the event.
As per reports, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spent Rs 121 crores to acquire the land. The stadium will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 450 crore.
Apart from the cricketing greats, the ceremony will also have the top officials of the BCCI. BCCI President Roger Binny, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, and Secretary Jay Shah will join the ex-cricketers.
On Saturday, Ravi Shastri took to X (formerly Twitter) to share he is visiting Varanasi. “Varanasi bound. Great to be amongst Greats and colleagues for Mumbai and India. Just a few international runs and wickets there. Pic of a lifetime. Gr8 memories,” he wrote on X.

All about the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi
The Interantional Cricket Stadium will be built in Ganjari, Rajatalab, Varanasi. The stadium will have a seating capacity of 30,000 and will be built on 30-acre land.
The architecture of the stadium draws inspiration from Lord Shiva. The roofs will have crescent-shaped designs while the seats will be like those of ghat steps. And there will be trident-shaped floodlights.
The stadium is expected to be ready by 2025. This stadium will be Uttar Pradesh’s third stadium after Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium and Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
