Sachin Tendulkar turns 50: 5 unique records held by Master Blaster which look unbreakable
Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in international cricket.
It is 24 April 2023 and the whole cricket fraternity is celebrating the 50th birthday of none other than the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar. The former India batter who was a nightmare for the bowlers, Sachin Tendulkar turned 50 years old on Monday and his fans are just failing to keep their calm. Even after years of his international retirement, Sachin remains the world’s best batter and his numbers speak for themselves.
Piling up over 30,000 runs in a career spanning over two-and-a-half decades, Tendulkar lived his dream to the fullest. He scored a century of centuries and no one could stop him. Such was the dominance of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, the batter that he featured in all possible batting records if not hold all of them.
Now, as the Master Blaster celebrates his 50th birthday, let us have a look at five such unique records held by Sachin Tendulkar which might never be surpassed or broken.
Most runs in international cricket
Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in international cricket. The former India batter scored 34,357 runs while playing for India. He took 664 matches across the three formats (Tests, ODIs, and T20s) to pile up these 34k runs.
This record seems unbreakable because the rest of the four batters in the list of the top five highest run scorers in international cricket have retired and also they are well short of Tendulkar. In fact, the second batter on the list, Kumar Sangakkara has scored 6k fewer runs than Sachin. Virat Kohli (25322*) might get closer but surpassing Tendulkar seems an uphill task.

Most nineties
While everyone knows about Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries at the international level, only a few people are aware that the former India batter also holds the record for registering the most nineties in international cricket. Sachin has registered 28 nineties in his career, which is the most by any batter to have played the game so far. This record is unbreakable because the second batter on the list is AB de Villiers with 14 nineties.
Longest ODI career
Sachin Tendulkar debuted at the age of 16 and never looked back since. He continued to climb the ladder of success and ended up becoming the God of Cricket. There were many reasons for this enormous success Sachin got- his longevity was one of them. The Maharashtra cricketer played for India (in ODIs) for a record 22 years and 91 days. This is the longest a player has represented their country and as it seems, this record will remain with Sachin forever.
Most boundaries in Test cricket
Sachin Tendulkar did not become a legend overnight, he put in the hard yards for the success he got. The former India cricketer pilled up runs in the longest format of the game and quite obviously Sachin holds multiple records in Test cricket. Among many, Tendulkar also holds the record for the most number of boundaries scored by a batter. Sachin hit 2058+ fours during his entire Test career.
Most hundreds in a calendar year
Sachin Tendulkar’s secret to success was his consistency. Tendulkar used to pile up runs consistently and therefore he eventually went on to score 100 centuries. Among all the batting records, Tendulkar also holds the record for scoring the most centuries in a calendar year. The former India star scored 12 tons in 42 innings in 1998.
