India’s wicketkeeper Sanju Samson was criticized heavily by Indian cricket fans after he failed to grab his opportunities in the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. As Samson fell cheaply in the fifth and final T20I on Sunday, fans minced no words as they slammed the batter for wasting chances.
Sanju Samson was dismissed for 13 off 9 balls as the wicketkeeper batter edged one from Romario Shepherd into Nicholas Pooran’s hands. While Samson did not get a chance to bat in the third and fourth T20Is, Samson was dismissed for low scores in the first T20Is as well. Samson scored 12 and 7 runs in the first and second T20I respectively.
The wicketkeeper batter has not looked in his element in the shortest format and with the likes of Jitesh Sharma and Ishan Kishan waiting in the wings, pressure continues to mount on Samson. The wicketkeeper is expected to pounce on the limited opportunities he gets. However, with that not happening, fans are irked.
