After getting ignored in the first ODI, Sanju Samson could not make the most of the opportunity in the second ODI. However, the wicketkeeper batter came all guns blazing in the third and final ODI as Samson scored a 41-ball 51. In fact, Samson cleared his intentions straight away as the batter hit a six on the very second ball he faced in his inning.ย

Samson took charge against Yannic Cariah as he smashed the West Indies spinner straight down the ground for a six. Two deliveries later, Samson nailed a slog over long on for a six. The batter then also hit a six against Jayden Seales and then Samson took Cariah to the cleaners once again for his fourth six.ย

Notably, Sanju Samson has now the third-best average by an Indian in 12 ODI innings. The wicketkeeper batter averages 55.71, only behind Kedar Jadhav and Shubman Gill. In fact, he averages better than what Virat Kohli averaged at this stage of his career. Talking about the impact of Samson’s innings, it (and half-centuries from Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya) helped India post a massive 351/5 on the board.
