Whenever Sanju Samson‘s name is missing from India’s squad list, many fans don’t waste time slamming the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for ignoring a talented player like Samson. But this time, it seems, Samson’s supporters have turned into a critic and questioned why he hasn’t grabbed those opportunities to score runs.
Former Pak cricketer Danish Kaneria was one of his critics who got impatient after witnessing below-par performances of the Kerala-born wicket-keeper batter. Samson is part of the five-match T20I series against West Indies and in all the two matches he has played so far, Samson could not even reach 15 in both the innings he has played. He was also in the playing XI for the ODI series and scored a 50 in the third match.
Kaneria said that India rested senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to give the youngsters the chance to show their potential but Samson’s innings were not at all impressive. Kaneria, who claimed himself a Sanju Samson supporter, feels the management has given enough chances to the 28-year-old.
“Now that India has played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson?” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel. “He has had enough chances now. I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn’t made the most of these changes.”

What’s next for Sanju Samson?
Sanju Samson did not get the chance to bat in the third T20I as a whirlwind knock from Suryakumar Yadav crushed West Indies, guiding India to a seven-wicket victory to keep themselves alive in the series.
Samson might get the chance to play the last two T20Is but as star youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal made his debut for India and if he continues his blazing form in the series, then Samson might see himself getting dropped again from the squad.
West Indies currently are leading the five-match T20I series 2-1. The fourth match will be played on Saturday (August 12) at the Central Broward Park and Broward County Stadium in Florida.
