Just after a gap of a few days since the conclusion of the ODI series against Afghanistan, Pakistan will face Nepal in the opening match of the 2023 Asia Cup on August 30. India won’t play their matches in Pakistan due to the political tension, so they will play all of their matches in Sri Lanka, which means, Pakistan will have to travel a lot.

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan addressed the issue after the last ODI against Afghanistan. He said the players will try to keep themselves hydrated in extremely hot weather, especially the fast bowlers.

It’s too much travel,” Shadab said after Pakistan’s win. He went on to point out that as the series ended, the players would have to travel the next day. “There will be fatigue, sure.”

Shadab Khan feels playing the 50-over format felt quite long because they have been playing T20 cricket a lot. He is hoping that a hectic schedule does not drain and injures the players.

Hopefully, there are no injuries because the schedule is quite hectic,” Shadab added. After the opening match, Pakistan will lock horns with Rohit Sharma and Company on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Last year, Babar Azam and Co., though reached the final, lost to Sri Lanka by 23 runs. This year, they will be hoping to make themselves much stronger in the tournament to make themselves ready for the all-important ODI World Cup, starting October 5.
