Two-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continue to participate actively in the trading window ahead of the mini-action. In the latest trade, KKR have acquired the services of Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals (DC) in an all-cash deal.
As per ESPNcricinfo, the deal between the two franchises was finalized on Monday (November 14). Thakur was purchased by the Delhi-based franchise at the IPL 2022 mega auction for a massive Rs 10.75 crore. However, the signing didn’t turn out as well as the management had anticipated.
The 31-year-old managed to pick up only 15 wickets in 14 games, leaking runs at a rate of 9.79. With the bat, he could accumulate only 120 runs at a strike-rate of almost 138. It was evident that the Delhi Capitals would either release him to buy him back at a lower cost or trade him.

It is Kolkata‘s third trade of the ongoing trading window. Earlier, they penned the services of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans (GT) in an all-cash deal. While Ferguson picked up 12 wickets in 13 games last season, Gurbaz didn’t get any game time for the 2022 IPL winners.
“Both players leave behind unforgettable memories. Lockie’s four-wicket haul against Delhi Capitals is a performance we will always remember. While Gurbaz did not play a game, his promise and talent was evident right through,” GT team director Vikram Solanki said.
