Shikhar Dhawan’s 88 helped Punjab Kings set a competitive target of 187/4 against Chennai Super Kings on Monday, April 25 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In the match, CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. PBKS captain and opener Mayank Agarwal played a slow innings by scoring 18 off 21 balls. But it was Shikhar Dhawan who with an impressive strike rate of 149.15 scored an unbeaten 88 runs from 59 balls by smashing 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a knock of 42 off 32 with 2 fours and 2 sixes. But in the 17th over, Dwayne Bravo sent him off. A slower delivery from Bravo on a length and Rajapaksa stepped down the track, looked to lift it over long-off. But the ball then fell onto the hands of Shivam Dube.

Liam Livingstone appeared in a cameo and scored 19 off 7 balls. But a slower ball from Bravo gave his catch to Mukesh Chaudhury. Only Bravo scalped 2 wickets and Maheesh Theekshana took a wicket.

Shikhar Dhawan reaches some milestones

In this match against CSK, Shikhar Dhawan became the second cricketer after Virat Kohli to complete 6000 runs in IPL. RCB’s former skipper Kohli has scored 6,402 runs in 215 matches. They are followed by Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma who has scored 5764 runs, Delhi Capitals’s David Warner’s 5,668 runs, and Suresh Raina’s 5528 runs.

Dhawan reached this mark in his 200th IPL match. He is also the 8th cricketer to play so many IPL matches. But he has surpassed Kohli for another milestone when he touched the score of 9. He is the highest run-getter against CSK in IPL. Kohli has 949 runs in 28 innings and Dhawan has 1029 runs against CSK. He also became the 3rd Indian batter after Kohli and Rohit to amass 9000 T20 runs.
