Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar said that he feels sorry when the media continues to criticize India captain Rohit Sharma and former India captain Virat Kohli. What Akhtar said is true because cricketers are heavily slammed on all forms of media the moment they make a mistake and their failures, especially in ICC events or after their lackluster performances against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Akhtar cited legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s example to point out that even the Master Blaster had to face the wrath of the media throughout his career despite his being one of the greatest cricketers. Rawalpindi Express even slammed the media for bashing the star cricketers merely for TRP.

I feel sad for the likes of Virat and Rohit for the bashing that they get. But Virat is someone who performs under pressure. There hasn’t been a greater batter than Sachin and even he had to suffer for 20 years, the onslaught from the media. I feel the media does a lot of bashing for TRP. I feel sorry for the current cricketers for the pressure they’re under,” Akhtar said on ‘Wake up with Sorabh’ YouTube channel.

The 2023 ICC ODI World Cup will start on October 5 where England and New Zealand will lock horns in Ahmedabad. India’s campaign starter match is on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.

The high-voltage India-Pakistan will be held on October 14 in Ahmedabad. Shoaib Akhtar wants to see another rematch between the two rivals but in the World Cup final.

Akhtar pointed out that the match without any doubt will generate the highest TRP. He laughingly said that as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is injecting a lot of money, it should definitely get more money. “You make the money, we will make the World Cup (laughs).”
